The crash between civilization and nature, how plants and animals suffer and worldwide hundred of species are disappearing, extinguished. I live in a country, Costa Rica, full of national parks, 25% of the territory. But the animals do not recognized borders and they are killed on the roads, electrocuted when for example a sloth does not distinguish between an electric pole and a tree or in the sea, marine life trapped and killed by illegal fishing.

© 2010 Ileana Moya. Colored cotton pulps handmade paper, collage and woodcut print. 47 x 31.5 " (120 x 80 cm) The title is an alliteration in Spanish: Mona is the female monkey. Lisa, like plain (because of this, she has short hair, non veil, like the monkey, but the same seat position and the local Chimirol landscape as background). Chimirol is a Costa Rican region, up in the mountains near the Pacific Chirripo river, where I took the water and plants to make all the handmade papers. Leonardo's Mona Lisa smile is enlarged as a collage, printed with digital archival inks inserted into the wet paper. Available $1500. Unique

David Crockett and the fur hunting in USA, end of XVIII Century and beginning of XIX Century. Hero of the Wild-frontier. My hero as I was a child. As a teenager I understood the negative part, all this people arrived to those wild lands as predators, starting diminishing the wild animals populations.
This is the racoon watching in the distance the lights I, walking to the road to try to cross II, a car hit the racoon III, the racoon continued to the road border bleeding IV, the heart exploded V, the racoon soul flew VI.
On my rational side, I look for some parts of the racoon body and skeleton that are close to us, like the hands, the spine cord, the nails and the scapula. Around I wrote some sentences that were connected like a pun, ending that we are the animals and they are the humans. This is a small piece 15x28cm.
Ochomogo is the place where the racoon die, on the road between San Jose and Cartago, the actual main city and the colonial main one. I made the intaglio with a cooper plate using a car to go over it, letting the tire track in a special gesso, the rest is aquatint and a special sugar varnish I learned in Milan with Giorgio Upiglio, stampatore. Its is 60x60cm
Inside- Outside all we human beings, have two sides, female-male and cultures have imposed our rolls through history, full of prejudices.
